From 3 to 13 July 2025, Kunstwerkstube Baden hosted the group exhibition 'In the Realm of Abstraction', offering a fascinating insight into the diverse world of abstract art. Nine artists presented works that could hardly have been more different, yet they were united by an invisible thread: an invitation to the audience to enter into resonance themselves. Each artwork was like a window into a new, undefined world. Abstract art thrives on openness — it stirs the emotions, encourages interpretation, and sparks the imagination, creating stories that unfold within the viewer.

Mirror of Perception

Euphoria – a painting symbolising new beginnings, clarity and genuine vitality.
'Euphoria' is about new beginnings and genuine vitality.

I was fortunate enough to be able to take part in this exhibition, showcasing a selection of pieces from my “Metamorphosis” and “Panta Rhei” series. I brought along pieces that depict change and inner flow, in the hope that they would create a space in which visitors could explore their own feelings.

Once again, it became clear that paintings speak to people in very different ways. For example, one person may feel instantly moved by the artwork 'Euphoria', while another may feel challenged or even irritated by the same painting. It is precisely where this friction arises that the real power of art often begins. Art does not have to please everyone. Its purpose is to evoke emotions and stimulate thought and discussion, perhaps even sparking conversations that would otherwise never have taken place. Art can be contradictory. Sometimes, this is precisely its value.

Between Impulse and Interpretation

New Age – a painting that heralds a new era.

I was particularly touched by the variety of interpretations of my work. An elderly gentleman, a former surgeon, looked long and attentively at the painting 'New Age', an abstract orchid. After we had a lively conversation about his impressive medical career, he told me what he saw in the picture: cartilage, joints and bones, and fragments from inside the body. To him, my floral motif was a retrospective of a life dedicated to anatomy. A poetic echo of his own biography.

'Inner Resistance' is a painting depicting the silent struggle within.

Another visitor saw a head in the shadows in 'Inner Resistance' – a completely different, deeply emotional interpretation that coincided wonderfully with the original inspiration behind the painting: the feeling when emotions push to the surface. (→ Blog article on the work)

These conversations weren't just funny and inspiring — they moved me deeply.

A special Thanks

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the organisers of the Kunstwerkstube for their careful organisation and for creating such an inspiring atmosphere. I was particularly pleased with Rundschau Süd's media report on 3 July 2025, which featured the exhibition and my work:

I look forward to many more discussions and to continuing to create spaces where art is not only viewed but experienced.
